Doing Something Helps. For Real!

COUNTDOWN TO NOVEMBER 3RD!

The 2020 Election Year volunteer enthusiasm is astounding! Now, in these last days, we're turning our attention to getting our neighbors to the polls. Here's a list of all kinds of things you can do to keep the momentum going!
You don't have to be a Democratic Party member to participate. There's something here for everyone.

GOT A CAR? GOT TIME?
Volunteer Options for Drivers

  • DELIVER LAWN SIGNS — to folks in your area
who request them but can't pick up. Sign up by sending an email to Kathleen Hayek at: chair@dcnydems.org

  • BE A "BALLOT DRIVER" — help voters who want to hand deliver their absentee ballot to the Board of Elections, but can't drive.
Sign up by sending an email to Mina at: minatakahashi@mindspring.com or call her at (646) 784-0072.

  • PROVIDE A RIDE TO THE POLLS — to voters who can't drive,
either for early voters Oct. 24 - Nov. 1 to Delhi and/or on election day Nov. 3 to your local polling places.
(This will be taxi service style! Masks will be required, and voters will sit on the opposite side of driver, in the back seat, windows open).

  • DELIVER DOOR HANGERS — deliver Dem candidate info brochure door hangers to registered Democratic voters in your town who we can't reach by phone. You'll be given prepared packets, a list of voter addresses with a map, and instructions. Sign up by sending an email to Kim Van Atta at: kim.vanatta@gmail.com, or call (917) 657-1050.

ARE YOU CREATIVE? CAN YOU WRITE?
Volunteer to write LTEs, Postcards

  • WRITE LETTERS TO THE EDITOR (LTEs) — People really read these! Your letter can either promote one of our down ballot candidates, educate voters on how best to vote in 2020 or inform on other crucial issues. We can provide help and publication addresses. To volunteer, e-mail to: midtwndem@catskill.net or call Lisa Tait at 845-586-3178.

  • HAND WRITE POSTCARDS FOR NYS SENATOR JEN METZGER, SD42— Jen represents Delhi, Hamden, Colchester, Masonville, Tompkins and Walton, but her impact has been significant statewide. In her first term Jen co-sponsored a boatload of progressive bills, got us a legislative ban on fracking, voted for a cap on residential property taxes, advocated for rural broadband, and negotiated for aid to family farms. No wonder the Republicans would like to boot her out! We’re shooting for completion of this project by Wednesday, October 21st.
Get Metzger postcard packets (cards, addresses, script) at:
    –– 98 Main St, Delhi, Wednesdays & Fridays 10:30-2:30; Sat's 11-2pm.

–– 139 Main Street, Delhi, most any day from 11 am to 4 pm. Text Mina Takahashi with your ETA and she will meet you out front: 646.784.0072.

–– If Bovina Center is easier for you to get to, text Mina and she can leave you a packet out on her porch: 646.784.0072.

  • HAND WRITE POSTCARDS FOR BETSY KRAAT — Help Betsy Kraat, our Dem Assembly District 102 Candidate, representing Harpersfield, Kortright, Middletown, Roxbury, and Stamford, get known by writing postcards for her. We'll provide the addresses, cards, basic info and stamps. To volunteer, e-mail to: midtwndem@catskill.net or call Lisa Tait at 845-586-3178

GOT A PHONE, A COMPUTER AND INTERNET?
Make some phone calls!

  • MAKE NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR CALLS- We have identified neighbors of yours who did not vote in 2018 and/or 2016 and may need some additional encouragement to vote in this critical election year. We will give you a list of just 10 key voters in your neighborhood to call.  You will provide them with information on how to vote this year, and give them support for whatever method they choose to use: absentee, early voting, or on election day itself. Sign up by sending an email to kim.vanatta@gmail.com, or call Kim at 917-657-1050.

  • PHONE BANKING WITH DELGADO, BARBER & METZGER– #TEAMDELGADO, Antonio has teamed up with Jen and Jim and is hosting a Weekend of Action this weekend and next. There are daily phone banks reaching voters all across NY's 19th Congressional District! Click here to find and sign up for events. It's a virtual good time!

AND IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO DONATE!
Keep your campaign donation dollars local.

  • DONATE TO OUR YARD SIGN FUND — We're accepting donations for the Biden/Harris and our Row A, All the Way yard signs, purchased with DCDC funds. Go to:  www.dcnydems.org/donate_yard_signs and donate whatever you can!  Thanks!

  • DONATE TO A STATE CANDIDATE — We are working hard to elect the fullest and best slate of candidates we’ve endorsed in years, and those last minute dollars can truly help them over the line. Here's the list of their websites:

KEEP BREATHING!
As we move forward, lets support each other,
and keep our cool.

This is the most challenging election we have ever seen.
Fear and tensions are high.
Some will try to provoke and distract us.
Don't take the bait.

Also remember, there are Republicans out there who can't go along with their party any more. Some of them are looking for a safe harbor.
Let's offer that safe harbor and thank them for supporting country over party. ❤️
